Canadian joins RSV with a lot of experience
After Nicolai Zeltinger has handed over the reins to Ralf Neumann, the position of assistant coach 2017/2018 has now been filled with Canadian Janet McLachlan. The 39-year-old started off as a basketball player and has won the Canadian Championship with her team from the University of Victoria in 1998 and 2000. After two bad knee-injuries she changed to wheelchair basketball, first with Edmonton Inferno, then from 2007 for the British Columbia Breakers and in the US for the University of Alabama, and with the latter she won the US-College Championship twice.
In 2010 she came to the Trier Dolphins, and the team became winners of the André-Vergauwen-Cup in 2015, before she started playing for Rhine River Rhinos Wiesbaden for two years. With the Canadian National Team she participated in the Paralympics in Beijing, London, and Rio, won Bronze at the Worlds in Birmingham in 2010 and Gold 2014 in Toronto. She ended her international career after Rio, and now her club career as well.
„We really wanted to get Janet as an addition to our team, when we heard that she was ending her career as a player. We were able to agree on everything super quickly and are on the same wavelength when it comes to basketball.” says new head coach Ralf Neumann about his new assistant.
