RSV contract US National Player
German Champions RSV Lahn-Dill have their first new player for the season 2017/2018. The club got one of the big talents in wheelchair basketball with US National Player Brian Bell. The 28-year-old Paralympics winner will change from Briantea ’84 Cantu to Wetzlar.
The Centre has won Gold at the Paralympics in Rio and was one of the key players on his team. He was second top scorer and rebounder and therefore did a lot for his team’s first Paralympics win in 28 years. In 2005 he was already part of the U23-Worl Champion team for the US.
Bell was born in Birmingham/Alabama and started his career when he was 10. He went via his College team at the University of Illinois and RHI Indianapolis Pacers to the Italian Series A in 2013. He has won the Italian League with Cantu in 2014 and 2016 as well as the Italian Cup in 2016 and this season.
“Of course we are super proud to have been able to get a player like Brian Bell under contract. He will be a fantastic addition for us as well as the German League. We’re looking forward to having Brian and his entire family with us.” says manager Andreas Joneck about the friendly American. “I feel honored to be able to play for such a well-known and well-respected club as RSV Lahn-Dill. I’m looking forward to some unforgettable moments, with the team, the club and the fans.” says Bell, who already came for a visit over Easter.
