RSV get third game on Sunday

59:53 win against BG Baskets Hamburg

RSV Lahn-Dill have won game two of the best-of-three series in the semi-final against BG Baskets Hamburg, getting the chance to win a ticket to the final-series in the third and last game on Sunday. The new German Cup winners won 59:53 (12:10/27:19/41:35), after they had lost in the previous game.

Both team played on eye-level from the start in their third duel within two weeks, including the Cup-semi-final. Centre Luszynski quickly got the 10:5 (5th min), but the guests found better into the game and threw more spanners in the works of RSV.

Thanks to the 16:12 (13th min) by Captain Michael Paye, RSV still had a strong second quarter. The US-boy crowned his performance with a three, getting the 23:12 (16th min). the reward was the 27:19 lead at halftime, which could have been better if the team would have made use of all their opportunities.

The guests from the North saw their chance in the second half, and even got the 29:29 draw in the 25th minute after a basket by Hiroaki Kozai. But the Middle Hesse team was not going to hand over the lead, and fought relentlessly for the third duel on Sunday.

The team kept their lead, at 41:35 (30th min) after a three by Thomas Boehme, and at 48:41 (34th min) scored by Jan Haller. But the 54:49 (38th min) score by Koehler was not enough yet, and in the end, it was down to Piotr Luszynski and Michael Paye to get the final score of 59:53, getting their team the chance to win the semi-final in the third game of the series on Sunday.
