90:49 success at quarter finals against MunichRSV will be in the Final Four for the 20th time on the 2nd and 3rd of April 2016 due to their sovereign 90:49 (17:9/52:24/69:33) home win against USC Munich. The Middle Hesse team will be one of the four participating teams on the first weekend of April, where they will be playing against BG Baskets Hamburg, a replay of last year’s final. The two most outstanding players this weekend were US-American Steve Serio and his British colleague Joe Bestwick, the latter only missing his first shot after 20 points and 34 minutes in the game. In the end the 31-year-old did not only score 30 points but also scoring six of six shots at the free throw line and getting 14 rebounds, therefore getting a "double double". "I think e visitors were able to watch an attractive and chipper game. Joe and Steve were obviously fantastic, no questions there." said happy Head Coach Nicolai Zeltinger after the game. It only took eight seconds for Serio to get the first basket leading to 2:0, which set off an offensive first quarter. Only 2 1/2 minutes later the first three went into the USC basket (7:0, 3rd min). But to start with the team from the south of Germany was able to stand against the title defendants. Especially German National Player Magenheim and Australian Kim Robbins kept their team close ish at 17:11 (11th min). But in the next quarter RSV did not hold back. The hosting team managed 35 points until half time. Another three by Serio lead to 22:11 (12th min), and 14 points within seven minutes by Joe Bestwick to 43:22 (27th min), followed by six points in a row by Thomas Böhme moved the score to a comfortable 52:24 at half time. "After half time the changes that we made took a bit of the pace out of our game,so we couldn’t keep up with our play before changeover." was Zeltinger’s analysis. The Bavarian team found better into the game after the 71:33 (31st min) by Jan Haller. Despite missing three players, USC Munich managed to shine with the final score of 49:90.Now RSV will be taking place in the Final Four semi final again, against Baskets Hamburg. Where this will be taking place is yet to be decided after the participating teams will have put in a bid to host the game. The second semi final will be a decider between Zwickau and RSB Thuringia Bulls.
