RSV reach the 100 seconds before the final whistle

Duel against Munich ends 100:41

RSV have returned from their trip to Bavaria with a success surpassing the expectations. The title defendants won 10:41 (21:6/49:20/80:28) against Munich and are still without defeat so far. It was Thomas Boehme, who scored the 100th point exactly 47 seconds before the game was over. Not only did he break the barrier with that shot, but also pushed his personal score to 26 points, including three threes and a 100 per cent hit ratio from the free-throw-line. These results were preceded by a strong Wetzlar performance, confirming their position in the league. “Our defence was impressive, Munich were hardly able to keep up their own game.” said Head Coach Nicolai Zeltinger after the game. It took a couple of minutes, but then RSV took off from 4:4 (3rd min) to 21:4 (9th min).
Their game seemed to wobble a bit though, when Bjoern Lohmann got his third foul within only a few minutes, but his substitute Annabel Breuer continued in the same manner as her predecessor: the team worked together like a Swiss clockwork in their defence, keeping Australian Kim Robbins and Bosnian Suad Sutic at bay. Only Magenheim managed to get through every once and again. But he was unable to stop the opposition, so the teams went into halftime at 49:20. And who thought, RSV would lean back now and relax, was clearly wrong.
The trio Boehme, Serio and Paye seemed only slightly satisfied after a 31:8-run in the third quarter, changing the score to 80:28. Whilst Paye and Boehme together scored 55 points, Serio got 18 points, ten rebounds, and with 9 assists only barely missed the triple-double. The stats were generally in RSV’s favour, with 33:16 rebounds, 69 to 33 per cent hit ratio, and the first 100 points of the season. “Regardless how well it’s working out for us at the moment, to play this well at the start of a season is slightly dangerous. We have to be careful and sensible to keep this up throughout the season.” said Zeltinger after the game. This weekend coming RSV Lahn-Dill will be hosting for FCK Rolling Devils Kaiserslautern.
