RSV Lahn-Dill magazine "Defense" talked to our new number four.
The RSV Lahn Dill magazine "Defense" used the visit of new Center Joe Bestwick, to make a first interview with the sympathetic Britons. The 27-year-old talked about his goals, his new teammates and the RSV family.
Defense: Hey Joe, welcome to RSV Lahn-Dill. Why did you choose to play for us next season?
Joe: I chose Lahn-Dill for several reasons. They have the best and most professional reputation in club basketball. Not only have some exceptional players represented the club but also the structure and support the players receive is second to none. I also had a great experience living in Germany when I played for Köln and really enjoy the culture and attitude of the German people. I just need to learn more German now!
Defense: What can our fans expect from you?
Joe: They can expect me to train and play hard all season. I play aggressively and hate to lose. I have been known to lose my temper during games, but more often than not it’s frustration at myself and is never a personal thing. It’s just needing to win.
Defense: What do you know about RSV?
Joe: As I said before the biggest thing I know about RSV is how professional and well run the club is, never mind how successful they have been over the years. I can’t wait to be involved in that. A perfect example of this is even though it’s a few months until I join the club everyone is doing so much to make us welcome and make the transition as easy as possible.
Defense: What are your personal goals and what are your goals with the team?
Joe: Personally I don’t set performance goals as there will be different goals in different games and at different parts of the season. I want the team to be successful and to be competing for as long as possible in as many competitions as possible. Anything more specific will have to wait.
Defense: Do you know any of your new teammates
Joe: I’ve played against all of the team at different points in my career and have a lot of respect for all of them. I have played against Mikey and Dirk for years with the different national teams and they’re both fantastic players in their own right. I’ve also seen Thomas Bohme playing a few times recently and he’s obviously a young guy with loads of potential.
Defense: Anything you want to say to our Fans?
Joe: I can’t wait to move over to Germany and start playing (and most importantly winning!) with the team, and get involved with the RSV family in general. Also I hope you’ll all be patient with me, it could take a while for my German to improve!
