Game in Wiesbaden must be postponed at short notice

RSV Lahn-Dill two weeks off after Corona-related cancellation

The matchday 17 game in the RBBL between host Rhine River Rhinos and RSV Lahn-Dill has been cancelled at short notice after several positive Covid19 cases occurred at the Wiesbaden-based team during the week. When the Hesse derby can be made up in the state capital is to be decided at short notice.

“We received the request to postpone the match due to positive test results yesterday, of course we have complied with the request from Wiesbaden as well as the league has done,” said RSV head coach Janet Zeltinger about the current situation. This gives the RSV Lahn-Dill now two play-free weekends in a row, after also the Champions League quarterfinal appearance of the central Hessen from 10 to 13 March in Israeli Tel Aviv was already canceled at the end of January by the IWBF Europe.

This means that the focus in the RBBL this coming weekend will be on the highly exciting battle for class preservation, in which the teams in places four to nine will meet in a direct duel, while the three best-placed clubs are condemned to watch. A possible new date for the RSV game at the Rhinos is Thursday, March 17 or Saturday, March 26. According to the league statutes, all main round games in the RBBL must be played by Sunday, March 28, otherwise the scoring will be done at the green table, because the playoffs for the German championship already start at the beginning of April.

RBBL, Matchday 17: Doneck Dolphins Trier – RBC Köln 99ers (Sat., 5:00 p.m.), ING Skywheelers – BBC Münsterland (Sat., 6:00 p.m.), BG Baskets Hamburg – Hannover United (Sun., 3:00 p.m.), Rhine River Rhinos Wiesbaden – RSV Lahn-Dill (canceled).
