We wish all fans, partners, and friends a Happy New Year with all our hearts!
The sports year 2021 with the triumph of RSV Lahn-Dill in the European premier class and the election to the team of the year in Hesse is irrevocably history. It is important to look ahead, to the RBBL, the IWBF Champions League and all the challenges that the next twelve months will hold for all of us.
We at RSV Lahn-Dill promise you that we will try with foresight and reason, with determination and commitment to make the structure RSV fit for the future and to develop it step by step. The loyalty and commitment of our fans, our partners, and friends in the Corona pandemic and for almost three decades in the first Bundesliga is both an incentive and an obligation for us. Personally, we would like to thank each and every one of you for your contribution to the success of the entire RSV Lahn-Dill structure, whether you belong to the large RSV family as a fan, as a sponsor, as a media or political representative.
Accordingly, we wish you all a Happy New Year from the bottom of our hearts, privately and professionally good luck, above all health and a great year together 2022!
What can we expect in the sports year 2022:
January 4th, 2022
The team immediately returns to training after the Christmas break to be able to prepare and focus on the second half, the playoffs and the Champions League in the best possible way. The coaches Janet Zeltinger and Günther Mayer certainly indeed have some surprises in store for the team in their training plans.
January 15th, 2022
The point game marathon starts for Thomas Böhme & Co. with an away game at newly promoted Köln 99ers. In the Rhineland, the successful foundation stone for a long and eventful sports year is to be laid. But the Cologne team around Joe Bestwick have so far impressively proven in the RBBL that no one should underestimate the 99ers.
January 23rd, 2022
The home premiere of the new year will take place with the duel against the BBC Münsterland on Sunday, 23rd January at 15:00 in the then newly renamed Buderus Arena Wetzlar. Whether spectators will be allowed at the start has not yet been finally decided by the authorities. Of course, we will inform you about this on our channels.
February 4th, 2022
On this day, RSV Lahn-Dill was supposed to start defending their title in the European premier class, but the new Omikron variant has once again held Europe and the world hostage. In December, IWBF Europe had to make the difficult decision to cancel the group stage of the Champions League. For RSV Lahn-Dill, a trip to Tel Aviv would not have been possible, as Israel has currently completely closed its borders to foreigners due to the pandemic.
March 11th, 2022
The quarterfinals of the Champions League have already been scheduled for this weekend in mid-March. After the cancellation of the group stage, the teams that will play for the highest club title in Europe at the beginning of May are now to be determined in a revised mode. Where and against whom the seven-time champion from Wetzlar must compete will still be decided.
March 19th, 2022
Final spurt in the RBBL main round for Simon Brown & Co. On the 18th and last matchday, RSV Lahn-Dill will welcome the ING Skywheelers from the Main metropolis of Frankfurt to the Hessenderby. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the playoff games for the 2022 title in Germany in April and May.
April 29th, 2022
It will be European again at the end of April, when the Champions League finals on the European stage take place this weekend. Surely all the big names of the continent will throw their skills into the balance again and the RSV Lahn-Dill would be only too happy to be there and have a say in sports.
Summer 2022
The first summer for many national players without a major international tournament awaits the wheelchair basketball scene. No European or World Championships, no Paralympics are coming up and for many protagonists and their physical strains this will certainly be a very special summer.
September 2022
The RBBL starts its 51st season with the season opener 2022/2023. What the schedule for the ten first division clubs will look like, who had to leave the league as relegated until then and who will be new in the circle of the ten best German teams, remains exciting.
December 2022
The reason for the free summer has been found, because with the World Championships in Dubai, a great sporting challenge awaits the international scene and the numerous national players in the team of RSV Lahn-Dill. A total of twelve women’s and 16 men’s teams will play for the title in the United Arab Emirates, while the RBBL will have to cope with a longer break for the second year in a row.
