Joe Bestwick leaves RSV Lahn-Dill

Briton does not get a new contract

As well as Bjoern Lohmann, the end of the season also means the end of Centre Joe Bestwick’s time with RSV Lahn-Dill. The 32-year-old Briton will not get another contract with the Middle Hesse team after five years with the club.

„The decision has been anything but easy for us, but in sport, these kinds of decisions have to be made, too.” says RSV-manager Andreas Joneck about the departure of the centre with the number 4. The same goes for the likeable Briton: “It’s tough, but these things can’t always be controlled, it’s the nature of the job. But I’m looking forward to a new chapter of my career, whatever it will be.”

Joe Bestwick came to RSV Lahn-Dill in 2012, having played for Wolverhampton Rhinos, and two years before that in the German league for Koeln 99ers from 2007 to 2009. The man with the many tattoos has won three Championships, four DRS Cups and on Champions Cup with the club. He has won Bronze at the Paralympics in Bejing in 2008 and was European Champions with the GB team in 2013.

“The Cup win was a good start, now I want to get everything else too before I leave, the German Championship and the Champions Cup! I hope I can add my bit, but the most important thing is that we’re successful as a team.” says the athlete, once more highlighting his professional attitude.
