RSV-quartet dominates Trier Dolphins

89:47 against Passiwan & Co
Top-of-the-table team RSV Lahn-Dill had a great start into the new year beating Doneck Dolphins Trier 89:47 (19:15/43:27/66:31) at home in front of a 1.200 people crowd.
25-year-old Boehme got a triple-double with 16 points, ten rebounds and 16 assist, which made him man of the match for the Middle Hesse team. “If I’m honest, I’m a bit surprised about this rounded performance after a five-week break.” said Head-Coach Zeltinger after the game about his team, who hadn’t even been able to have a complete training session yet due to the ongoing flu-wave.
Only the first quarter did not go as planned. It was especially hard to control Passiwan, and who scored the first nine points for his team basically in a solo-effort. This forced Zeltinger and Neumann to take the first time-out after six minutes already, when the score was 8:7. Passiwan highlighted his reputation when he had already scored 13 at the 23:17 (12th min). But on this Saturday he was more or less a solo entertainer in his team, which was well defended by RSV. A 10:0-run within three minutes lead to the 33:17 lead (16th min) and set the trend for the game, even though the Dolphins managed to come closer again in between at 33:25 (17th min).
Now the RSV-quartet Boehme, Bestwick, Paye, and Luszynski was unstoppable. Especially Luszynski, with 82 per cent hit ratio and 100 per cent from the free throw line, impressed with his efficiency. In the end the foursome had scored 74 points. Combined with 46:23 rebounds, the game was decided soon after half time.
The fourth quarter went via 49:27 (21st min) and 64:29 (27th min) with an overall score of 23:4 very definitely in favour of the hosting team. Whilst especially Latvian Diana Dadzite did not play up to her usual standard, and only Ryan Wright could shine a little bit, the guests soon drowned.
“It was unexpected how well our defence worked so soon after such a long break. This makes us feel positive about the upcoming games.” said Zeltinger after the game. The team will be playing Cologne this next Saturday, at 14:30 at Sportpark Worringen.
