Rolling Devils suffer biggest defeat at home

Steve Serio superb at 93:57 away winHosting team FCK Rolling Devils suffered quite a big defeat at 57:93 (8:24/24:48/42:77) against title-defendants RSV Lahn-Dill. The Middle Hesse team brought the Kaiserslautern team their biggest home defeat of this season and stay close seconds in the table, right behind Thuringia Bulls. Steve Serio has been playing superbly, scoring 30 points and getting 9 rebounds and six assists. There was no doubt right from the start. It started off with a 8:0-score (3rd min) before top scorer Steve Serio put the 20:6 in (9th min), which lay the base for the later win. Not long after it was Thomas Böhme, who turned a pass by Michael Paye into the 26:8-score (13th min). depite this shot being rather unspectacular, it was the 1.000th point for the Wetzlar team. After substitutions on court in the 16th minute, British Center Joe Bestwick took over. The 31-year-old scored 9 points within 4 minutes, a brilliant addition to the half-time-score 48:24. “We certainly could have pulled together a bit better in our defense, but looking at Kaiserslautern’s pace, which added to the quality of the game, this was still a great performance.” said Zeltinger after the game. After changeover the game continued in similar ways. RSV had 34 rebounds as opposed to the Devil’s 24, and also a better percentage from beyond the 6,75 at above 50 per cent. Nevertheless, the Rolling Devils did deliver an animated performance. Swiss National Player Janic Binda decreased the gap to 60:35 (25th min), whilst team mate Ryan Wright had a really strong day. FCK’s usual top scorer Jake Williams however was well taken care of by the RSV defense, staying behind with 7 points. Regardless, the 12-fold Champions was soon back in power, and when Captain Michael Paye scored a three leading to 77:42 just before the end of the third quarter, it even looked as if crossing the 100-points-mark was possible. But in the end RSV were not able to keep their focus up for the entire 40 minutes, though displaying a great overall performance. “Steve has been brilliant today, and also Felix did well when on court” said Zeltinger after the game. For the opposition especially low pointer Ryan Wright played great, who seems to love the games against RSV Lahn-Dill. He already did great in the first game, and this time he scored 16 points, 12 of which came from beyond the 6.75 meters.
