68:27-success against promoted team Rosenheim – great debut for Dreimueller
RSV II had a successful start into the new season with their 68:27 (20:2/38:13/54:19)-win over SB DJK Rosenheim. The team was led by newbie Nico Dreimueller, who showed his skills with eight assists, seven steals and six points. “I’m very happy about how we started inti the season” said Coach Daniel Stange after the game “Despite the short preparation time the team works well together, and this gives us courage for the tasks that lie ahead.”
The game consisted of 40 minutes with hardly any weaknesses for Wetzlar. The three RSV U-23-players dominated the game from the start, and at 10:0 (5th min) especially Marian Kind had already set his signature, whilst Dreimueller was directing the game. The opposition needed a time-out to finally score as well, but until the 14th minute this was their only hit (24:2). The hosting team only stumbled a little bit at the end of the first half, when Dreimueller got his third foul and Rosenheims Josef Wernberger managed to score eight points, polishing their score.
The guests found their way better into the game after changeover, despite the 38:13 score, and Wernberger and Schmid jr. continually finished well. Good playing on court did not help with a small hit-ratio though, and with the 54:34 (30th min) an early decision was made by Tristan Paar. In the last quarter Dreimueller shone again, setting his team-mates in scene, especially Marian Kind who scored 17 points and got 14 rebounds.
“This was a big step for the team, even though it doesn’t really say anything about the season yet. Next week will be a good chance to shoot ahead” said Coach Stange after the game. On Saturday his team will travel to Heidelberg to play against Rolling Chocolate Heidelberg, who had to cancel this weekend’s game due to illnesses and injuries.
