International weekend at Sporthalle Ost

German Men will meet Canada and Switzerland
The German national-team are currently intensely preparing for the Europeans, which will take place from the 28th of June until the 7th of July at Eissporthalle Frankfurt. Whilst the German women including Annabel Breuer and Gesche Schuenemann prepare abroad in USA, the German men coached by RSV- and national-coach Nicolai Zeltinger will play against Switzerland and Paralympic-Gold-medallists Canada in Giessen’s Sporthalle Ost in the 15th and 16th of June.
Thanks to organisers VfB Giessen Pointers Middle Hesse fans can get a first glimpse at team Germany and the Europeans two weeks before the first game against Great Britain. And RSV-Fans can look forward to watching five of their players at the tournament, Bjoern Lohmann, Thomas Boehme, Jan Haller, as well as national-rookies Felix Schell and Marco Zwerger. Other additions coming from RSV are assistant-coach Ralf Neumann and second-team coach Daniel Stange. Long-term national-assistant-coach Bruce Enns also is part of the RSV-history.
In the first game on the 15th of June the German team will play against Canada at 18.00. Since Richard Peter and Joey Johnson have left the team after the 2012 London Paralympics the team is currently in a big change and gives opportunities most of all to young players. The team still has stability and great players like former Bonn-player Adam Lancia, David Eng and Chad Jassman form Trier.
On Sunday the team surrounding captain Sebastian Wolk will then play against Switzerland at 15.00, who are coached by Stefan Donner. Most people should still remember Swiss captain Nico Hausammann from his season 2008/2009, when he became German Cup winner with RSV Lahn-Dill. Switzerland are said to be underdogs at the Europeans, but with Maurice Amacher, Janic Binda and Philipp Haefeli the team has a lot of young and talented players, who have developed well over the last couple of years and might have one or the other surprise for some of the teams in Frankfurt.
