RSV Lahn-Dill turns an almost lost game around

After beating Zwickau 71:55 Wetzlar moves into Playoffs as number one

After being down by 11 points at the beginning of the second half, RSV Lahn-Dill came back with an extraordinary third quarter and won against archrival RSC Rollis Zwickau with 71:55 (11:11/19:28/51:44).

It was the second quarter that left the sold-out crowd of 1500 fans and their home-team almost dumb into half-time break when Zwickau gained a 28:19 lead after 20 minutes. After a start on an equal level and a first quarter that showed two strong defending teams, RSC Rollis Zwickau were able to move away after six points by Krysztof Bandura to a 26:17(17.) lead. On the other side of the court the ball didn´t want to fall into the basket anymore and so not only Headcoach Nicolai Zeltinger went a little bit downfaced into half-time break.

When Zwickau scored twice after the break to a 23:34(23.) by Marcin Balcerowski and Center Bandura the atmosphere at the August-Bebel-Arena almost froze to death – but suddenly the spark from the fans jumped over and the team seemed to explode.

It was the pressure RSV Lahn-Dill was able to keep up now thet didn´t seem to be handled by Zwickau anymore. Coming back point by point and an almost immaculate shooting from the free-throw line by Wetzlar´s team made the RSC Rollis Zwickau become more and more insecure; and so RSV Lahn-Dill moved over a 33:38(25.) to their first lead by 42:40(27.).

Now the August-Bebel-Arena cracked up totally. The firework on the court kept going and carried by the extraordinary audience on the stands the US-plyers Paye and Serio pushed their team up by leading a 23:6-run that brought home a 49:42(30.) after the third quarter. After Zwickau´s best player today Piotr Luszynski was fouled out at 61:48(35.) their last resistance was broken.

Everybody at the Gym was celebrating the 71:55 win after the game but it was Headcoach Nicolai Zeltinger who found realism again first:„It was a dramatic game and great for the fans, but we didn´t win anything yet. The deciding games against Zwickau are still to come."
