91:82-revenge against RSC-Rollis Zwickau
After having filled the big Rittal-Arena at Wetzlar with 3900 spectators already half an hour before the game even started and winning the home-game againts the maybe biggest opponent facing the german championship, there was nothing but a big smile on players´, management´s and fans´ faces after the game. The score of 91:82 (23:25/46:42/70:60)-against RSC-Rollis Zwickau put the lid on this great event.
In the beginning it did not look like a sportive success until Richard Peter scored his second layup to a first RSV-lead of 32:31 (15.) The following minutes gave the start to what the fans expect when they come to see a top-clash.
The game-winning period for the RSV was the third quarter in which captain Joey Johnson and US-Pointguard Michael Paye, who was on a roll during the whole game, could bring their team from a 55:52 (25.) to a 66:54 (28.) lead.
After it seemed already over for the defending champion from Zwickau at the score of 85:69 (37.), the guys showed lots of self-confidence in scoring three 3-pointers in a row to cut the lead to a 82:89 (39.). But the last minute of the game was not enough to turn it around and so the RSV Lahn-Dill, who had 31 points from Michael Paye and 23 from Richard Peter in the end, was succesfull in getting a revenge for the lost final-games last April. An incredible performance of 39:16-Rebounds made maybe the deciding difference between the two best german teams.
