RSV´s player Richard Peter was specially honored by being chosen to carry the Olympic Porch as an official torchbearer of the Olympic Wintergames of Vancouver in 2010, where he carried the flame through his hometown.
The flame was inflamed in Greece and reached the Westcoast at Vancouver-Island being now on its way to Vancouver through the country of Canada. The longest Olympic torch relay lasts over 45000 kilometers and 12000 athletes will join the relay.
The flame will also come through 118 traditional tribal territories of the First Nation and Richard Peter was already the 57. athlete to carry the torch. In his hometown Duncan, mayor Phil Kent said: „It is an honour for us that Richard as a member of the First Nation carries the torch through the traditional territory of the Cowichan“.
